Ben Stansfield
Born in Bermuda, Ben spent most of his childhood moving between Armed Forces bases once his family had moved back to Canada.
Heavily influenced by comic books, sugary breakfast cereals and 1970’s Saturday morning cartoons, Ben has been drawing for thirty eight years, painting for fifteen, and has taught and lectured on cartooning, colour theory, and drawing.
Many cross-country flights, inter-and-intra-city moves and road trips have informed his paintings of urban and rural abstract landscapes, with a focus on repeated patterns made by human habitation and technology.
Ben moved to Toronto from Vancouver in 2006, and paints in his studio full time.
