SARAH MARTIN

Sarah Martin’s love of vintage, family photographs, collage and tactile materials make their way into her mixed media and oil paintings. She enjoys experimenting with materials, including wax, plaster, resin and thread to imbue a sense of history. Themes she has pursued within her work include the concept of safety and the longing that humans innately feel for it, as well as the concept of memory and its deceptive nature. Her studies have focused on the fine arts, completing a degree from York University, Toronto and a diploma from Georgian College's School of Design and Visual Arts. She received scholarships at both these institutions. She has won awards locally and has been shown both nationally and internationally. She currently has a studio practice and resides in Barrie, Ontario, Canada with her husband and two girls.
