Once a photograph, important document, or other piece of paper has succumbed to damage, there are a variety of options for what can be done to try to reverse some, if not all of the issues. Some damages to paper are irreversible, unfortunately, however luckily other damages can be repaired or halted using a variety paper conservation techniques.
A paper conservator is the person who, among other things, has the skills and knowledge to take steps to restore and conserve a degraded or marred object. Their objective is to return an object to its original look, and to preserve it from suffering any future damage.
